Marketyze Start-Up Program

The Marketyze Start-Up Program is a unique opportunity for ambitious high school and university students to gain hands-on experience in the workplace. The program is designed to pair youth with startups to provide opportunities for a summer internship experience. The program is open to Canadian applicants who are passionate about business, and are looking to successfully navigate the competitive internship landscape during the 2024 summer.

Eligibility

  • • Grade 11/12 high school or first-year and second-year university students
  • • Must be authorized to work in the country where the internship is based;
  • • Passionate about business and have a strong interest in the start-up ecosystem;
  • • Strong academic record and relevant coursework;
  • • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • • Time Commitment: ~20 hours per week for the entirety of the internship period.

Timeline

July 8, 2024 - August 16, 2024

Initial Application (May 1st - May 31st) The written application will feature questions about the applicant's experience through the form of a resume, transferable skills, and interests. Additionally, they will be asked to list a few industries they would like to work in.

Form of Preference (June 1st) After announcing the applicants who passed the written - round, interns will be asked to submit a secondary form ranking the companies that they would be interested in interning with.

Interviews with Marketyze (June 2nd - June 8th) The interview round will confirm the profile the interviewees have built in the written form, and their ability to effectively communicate ideas. Furthermore, their dedication and decision-making skills will be tested by scenario-based questions. Finally, the interviewers will gain a better idea of why the intern would like to intern in the chosen industry.

Interview with Company (June 8th - June 20th) In addition to Marketyze's interviews, the startup will have the option to interview select individuals from the MSP cohort. If they wish to do so, a formal, virtual interview will be arranged between the employer and potential intern.

Why MSP?

  • Opportunity to work with a leading start-up: Interns will work closely with a leading start-up and gain exposure to the start-up ecosystem.
  • Exposure to relevant industries: Interns will engage in business activities in fast-paced industries including, but not limited to, marketing, consulting, finance, etc…
  • Mentorship and networking: Interns will have the opportunity to learn from experienced entrepreneurs and network with industry leaders.
  • Hands-on experience: Interns will work on real-world projects and gain practical experience in the field of entrepreneurship.
  • Professional development: Interns will receive training and support to develop their skills and advance their careers.

At the end of the program, interns may have the chance to extend their contract or even be offered a position at the participating start-up companies. Interns will also receive a certificate of completion and a letter of recommendation from the participating start-up companies, which can be a valuable addition to their resume and help them stand out in the job market.
